How do you delete multiple messages at a time?

How do you delete multiple messages at one time without deleting everything
in the folder? I want to permantly delete some of the messages in my deleted
messages folder but not all of them. Is there a way to delete mulitiple
messages at one time without emptying the entire folder?

Like you would in any Windows program.... select using the Ctrl or Shift
keys, then click on the Delete icon or press the Delete key or right-click
and select Delete.
