If you only have WinXP you have to copy data drom CD to HD then back to CDR.
A good program to buy would be Roxio "Easy CD". It will copy data and music
CD assuming they aren't copy protected in some way.
You use the software that was bundled with your drive. You can burn disk to
disk or you can copy the contents of the source cd to your hard drive and
then burn any or all of the tracks (assuming it is a music cd) in any order
you may desire. You can also burn data to the disks as a way to backup your
files. Look in the software that came with your burner for information.
