How do you Backup without a Floppy Drive / Disk?

I just did a baackup using the XP backup funtion, but I don't have a floppy
drive (but I do have removable drives), but the backup didn't allow me to
save the settings to that drive. Will I be able to recover the data? How do
I manage that using the XP utility?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm new to this backup operation and
don't understand how it works exactly. Just want to be sure I'm doing the
backup correctly.

BTW, I'm backing up to a large external drive, so space is not a problem.

I recommend Acronis true Image, which I consider a top notch utility.
I've using if for years and never had a problem

NTBackup will backup to external drives and network shares. You set the
destination for the backup at the bottom of the Backup tab, or by using the
wizard.

XP's backup program will only let you restore your backup from within XP...a
major drawback.
Acronis True Image lets you create a bootable CD from where you can restore
Acronis backups/images.
The few dollars it costs is worth it if your system ever crashes and you
have no access to XP or you HD.

I agree - I use Acronis TI on all my systems and it's an excellent product.
Also, you can't restore a backup using NTBackup from a command line.
