how do i use templates

I am looking to build a template for my standard proposals.

I would like to have an initial Dialogue Box to enter the relevant
information - ie

Client
Contact
Representative
Amount
Date
Expiry Date

This data I would like to also populate fields in the Properties of the
document created.

Any thoughts?
 
Simplest method is to use document properties, entered using File >
Properties > Custom. In the document itself use DocProperty fields where you
want the information displayed. Create the template with dummy or default
values for the information you need. You could achieve a higher level of
automation by creating a UserForm to prompt for the information you need,
but unless you're really churning out the proposals you'll spend more time
setting it up and maintaining it than you'll save.
