how do i unlock my word document to make changes???

it says.."modification is not allowed because the document is locked"....how
do i unlock????
 
Unless the document is protected in some way (Tools | Unprotect Document),
it could be that you haven't activated Word (Help | Activate Product) or
that it is a trial version that has expired.
