how do i unlock my microsoft word so i can use it again?

when i try and type or do any other work on microsoft work 2007 it keeps
coming up with " this modification is not allowed because the selection is
locked". i really need to keep using this because i need to keep doin school
work. i need help on it asap .. please help me!!!
