how do i unlock microsoft word so i can type a document

you need to register the software and I would assume you would have been warned this with
a pop-up message. if you own a legit copy, ring microsoft to have it unlocked

Microsoft's Help system has landed you in the wrong newsgroup: this
one is for the database program Microsoft Access.

Please use the dropdown box (the one that says "Access" by default)
to select a more appropriate newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.word.general.
