How do I unlock a template in Word 2007 to add a data entry field

U

Unlocking a form

The form was created by going to view, toolbars, and clicking on forms. In
2003, if you had a template that you wanted to add a data entry field to, you
would unlock the document, place your cursor where you wanted to add the
field, and click on the small ab. Then you would relock the document. using
the padlock. I am trying to add a new data entry field to my 2007 document.

First go to Office button > Word Options > Popular and check the box to
display the Developer tab of the ribbon.

On that tab, click the Protect Document button and, in the task pane, click
Stop Protection.

You'll find the buttons for adding form fields on the dropdown from the
Legacy Tools button in the Controls group of the Developer tab.

The lock icon can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar -- it's in the
Commands Not in the Ribbon category (or in All Commands).
