How do I unlock a document?

I opened up MS Word 2003 and I cannot do anything with the document. At the
bottom of the screen it states, "Ths modification is not allowed because the
document is locked". I cannot save a document, edit the document, or even
click the space bar. Can someone help me please?

Have you activated the product? (Help | Activate Product) Or is it a trial
version that has expired?

There are a couple of suggestions...

See in Explorer - Right click on the file without opening and go to
"properties". See if "Read Only" is checked. If so, unclick it.

Hope this helps.
