This is an Excel newsgroup. Are you really using Excel to type your paper?
Excel is not the best tool for typing papers. Nonetheless, it is possible to
subscript selected characters in an Excel cell if you:
1. Type the unformatted equation (such as C6H12O6) into a cell, and press
Enter or click on another cell.
2. Click on the cell containing the unformatted equation and press the F2
key.
3. Select the first 6 in C6H12O6 and click on Format | Cells | Font |
Subscript | OK.
4. Select the 12 in C6H12O6 and click on Format | Cells | Font | Subscript
| OK
5. Select the second 6 in C6H12O6 and click on Format | Cells | Font |
Subscript | OK.
6. Press enter or click on another cell.
