I use to be able to get a solid after entering --- in Word 2003,
but I can't remember how I turned it off.
How do I turn it back on ?

Tools - AutoCorrect options - AutoCorrect as you type. Enable Border Lines
under Apply As You Type.

Or, you might just want to format your paragraph to have a top or bottom
border.

Thank you, Suzanne. I've been searching for an answer to this same question
all morning. I couldn't find anything in MS Word's help system. Cheryl
