Someone may have added a shortcut to Outlook in your Startup menu...find and
remove it. This doesn't happen on its own.

Hi,

Normally this issue occurs when there is a third-party program launching Outlook automatically upon Windows startup. Do you have a SONY computer by any chance? If so, please try
the first step listed below. If the first step does not work, or you are not using a SONY computer, try step 2.

Step 1: For SONY computer

If you are using SONY computer, please find the "hcontrol.exe" or "hcontrol" (without quotation marks) file in C:\WINDOWS\ATK0100\ and then rename it to hcontrol-old. Restart computer
to see if the problem still occurs.

Step 2: If you are not using SONY laptop or if the first step does not work, please try following steps.

Perform Windows clean boot
======================================
Note: A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that are loading at startup.

1. Click Start and then click Run,
2. Type "msconfig" in the box (without quotation marks) and then click OK.
3. Switch to "Services" tab.
4. Check "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click Disable All button.
5. Switch to Startup tab, click Disable All, click "OK" to reboot your computer.
6. When you see the message, choose "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" and click OK.

If clean boot solved the problem, please run "msconfig" and check back startup items one at each time and restart windows. Once the problem appears again, you will know which item
is causing the problem.

Thank you,
I do have a SONY VAIO computer and the first step worked. Why does that
happen or why does this third party program start Outlook on SONY computers?
Your response was a big help.

Thank you,
Jason
