Go To "Tools", "Options", "Email Options", "Advanced Email Options", &

Does it say that? if so, that's a new mail sound in control panel, sounds.

Rob, thanks. But it's already unchecked.

I tried turning off all sounds in the Sounds Control Panel...and it STILL
says it! Sometimes it's "You've got one mails", sometimes it's "You've got
six mails"...depending upon how many new email messages I have. Weird....I'm
running Office 2003.

is that the only thing that talks? there is a text to speech tool, but it
would read all dialogs, not just new mail.

Yes, that's the only time something "talks"! I cannot believe that my
computer simply has a poltergeist! There must be a way to shut this guy up!

Diane, I found the answer in another thread. It turns out it *is* a Toshiba
thing...Very annoying. Many thanks for the help.

You have a Toshiba computer, I'll bet, and it's a product called "Toshiba
Voice". In Outlook, click Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options>Add-In
Manager. Uncheck "Mail Speak (TOSHIBA)".

Google is your friend.
