How do I turn off overwrite in Access?

I can't find the original thread referenced here, but I have had
experiences, Joseph, where the text in a field on a form is overwritten
regardless of whether or not I've hit the [Insert] key to that is
inserts or overwrites.

I think this usually happens when one has an Input Mask. I'm not sure
why, but every time I have an Input Mask, it overwrites the text in the
field, and hitting the [Delete] key to delete extra characters does no
go - I have to go to the end of the text and backspace.

You are correct that there is a second reason. I know about it, I also
can't remember exactly what it is and if I remember correctly it is unique
to Access, but based on my personal experience, the usual problem is the
insert key.

Your information should be helpful in the event mine is not correct.
