How do I turn off "Initializing Folders" every time I open a file.

Every time I try to open a file in Excel, a dialog box pops up saying
"Initializing Folders". This takes several seconds and is extremely
frustrating. How do I turn this off?

Windows is searching for a network drive that isn't responding. Just
Disconnect the drive and the box will stop coming up.
