How do I turn off EVERYTHING in Word? DO NOTHING JUST TYPE

I don't want Word to think for me. I know what I want to do, and I don't
want Word to do ANYTHING unless I EXPLICITLY tell it to. I don't want it to
chance fonts because I hit the enter key twice. I don't want it to highlight
things in yellow for no reason. I want Word to type in the font I select and
do nothing else. Is this possible?
