How do I turn off automatic attachments to my email

Lately whenever I start a new email message OUTLOOK automatically includes
contact information in the attacments. How do I shut it off?

Thanks for your reply but the unwanted attachment occurs on the "Attach..."
line. Its attaching a ".vcf" file from my contacts folder. Everytime I
start a new mail message the contact information is already in the
"Attach..." line. Unfortunately its not my contact information, its somebody
else's from my contact folder.

That's in signatures. It's called a V-Card. Go to the signatures and turn
them off. Unless you're using a signature. Then go into the edit portion on
your signature. You'll see on the bottom that it's using "attach VCard" on
there. Select to None.
What version of Outlook are you using?

Got it! Thanks. I didn't want to turn signatures off entirely. I just
wanted to shut off the v-Card attachment. After following your first
response I hadn't gone all the way into the editing of the signature. This
time I did. I must have inadvertantly included the v-card attachment last
time I edited the signature. Nevertheless, thanks for the help - it was
driving me crazy!

No problem!

I have the same problem, although with OL2007 Beta. I create a signature by
hitting BUSINESS CARD. It inserts the Business Card that I designed in
Contacts, but it also attaches a vcf file? There's no checkbox anywhere
(unless I missed it) to prevent this from happening.

Do you know how to eliminate that?

Thanks.

That's the way the new Electronic Business Card feature in Outlook 2007 works, by design. It does two things:

1) inserts a graphic into the body of the item containing the information from the contact you select (your own contact record, of course)

2) attaches a vCard .vcf file so that the recipient of the message can add your information to their own Contacts list

If you only want the graphic, not the vCard, there are any number of ways to extract the picture. If you have a Gmail account, send yourself a message with the graphic in it and you'll be able to save the picture with a single click. You can then use that , save the graphic as a .gif file, then include it in a signature without the Business Card.
