HOW DO I TURN OFF AUTO DATE

When I open an old letter auto date inserts the new date, how can I stop this.
 
Are you using Word? If so, please try one of the Word newsgroups. This one
is for the Access Database program.

The access in this newsgroup's title refers to Microsoft Access, a
database product.
I would suggest you post to the appropriate Word newsgroup.
Make sure you include your Word version number.
