how do I transfer old messages with attachments from old computer

I can export the messages using the Import/Export function but the
attachments are not then attached. I don't want to have to save each
attachment and tehn transfer saved files - rather I would prefer them
attached to the email message when loaded on the new computer

Why export when copying the entire .pst file and opening it on the other PC
works beautifly?
