My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
Hey!
Anyone know of some good, reputable software (and preferably free)
that will allow me to surf anonymously?
Thanks,
Greg
Using a router will give you private address but the address for your
connection will still be known. The SECOND two tools, used in tandem and
with a search for anon proxy servers, on this link will help you along with
that quest:

As has already been mentioned there's no such thing as true anonymity you'll
still be known to the proxy server for starters and anyone running a free
server is likely to quickly turn over the real logged IP address to the
authorities with a bit of mild mannered threatening. Additionally surfing
httpS (secure) sites through a proxy server owned and run by some person in
a former Soviet Block country isn't wise. Entering passwords though those
sites is also unwise - even if it's just for your email... Consider the
warning given.
