How do I suppress printing redundant fields

I have a report that has 3 different at types:Hat, Cap, Widebrim. I'd like
to just print one line for each hat type with a total# of that type. What I
have is a table with a record for each type along with some additional
accessories. I've grouped hats and all like caps come out together, 1 detail
line for each record. How can I just print 1 summary line with a count for
the group? ie.

Hat - 9
Cap - 7
Wide Brim - 11
