How Do I Straighten a Tilting LCD Monitor?

I just got a Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP-HC monitor. It's the first LCD
monitor I've ever had. One problem is it tilts to the righthttp://img530.imageshack.us/img530/7291/tiltingmonitorp1010337fh1.jpg

I haven't figured out a way to correct this. Anybody here know how?

the point was that the monitor is capable of being rotated. If you have it
at a low position you wont be able to rotate it the full 90 degrees, but you
should be able to rotate it enough to straighten it.

Perhaps you could temporarily raise it up and rotate the display a few time
just to see if it will rotate at all. If it doesn't rotate at all, look for
something that might be impeding it's travel.

If you can't detect anything that might be preventing it, it just might be
defective.

Go to Dells web site. In the support section, there should be an option to
'chat' with a tech. The chat feature works quite well, and there's no
language barrier or accent to deal with.

Explain what the problem is and explain what you've tried. Odds are the tech
will either be able to help or he'll be able to authorize a return then and
there.

You probably got it twisted 90-degrees from where it should be on the
stand.
The thing is *supposed* to tilt back-and-forth.
The way *you* have it, what should be back-and-forth is likely
side-to-side.

Try twisting the panel around on the base so it faces front instead of
to the left or right.

Just a guess, but it's what seems reasonable to me.
At first glance, it seemed like you were having a joke on us.

It turned out to be a defective stand. They're shipping me a
replacement . . . maybe. Dell has lied outright to me so many
times I don't believe anything they say until it actually happens.

Then why do you keep going back?

"Doc, it hurts when I do this."

"Stop doing that."

Because in this case they have a unique monitor. You simply cannot
get a 24" monitor of this quality anywhere else for close to this
price. The typical price for a monitor of this color/image quality is
$1200-$1500. This one is $700. It's a price breakthrough monitor.

I gritted my teeth when I realized I'd have to deal with Dell. I just
hoped there's be no problems and I wouldn't really have to deal with
them. As best I can remember I've never had to get service on a
monitor before. I gambled it would be the same with this one. I
lost.
