How do I stop winword.exe

winword.exe is using about 52% of my cpu and I'm not even doing anything.
I have to end the process through crtl/alt/del to stop it.
I'm using XP Home w/sp2 and word 2003
How do I end this process for good ?
 
Word may still be running if you have it as your Outlook e-mail editor and
have Outlook running.
