How do I stop Outlook from sending undelivered mail over and over

I recently sent an email with a fairly large attachment to a friend. There
was some problem with his account and the Mail Administrator returned my
email. Outlook continued to send and the Administrator continued to send
back. Some 77 megabytes later I noticed the problem and stopped the process.
Can I automatically limit the number of times Outlook tries to send before
it gives up?
 
no, you can't tell outlook to stop trying. is the message still in your
outbox? if so, set outlook offline (file menu) wait 5 min then delete the
message and go back online.
