How do I stop Outlook from running in the background?

I can close Outlook (2007), but it continuously restarts in the background. I
have a password on my .pst file, and when Outlook.exe starts back up on its
own I get prompted for the password. Is there any way to keep Outlook from
running when I don't want it to?

Thanks!

You probably have something installed that requires Outlook and thus starts
it when Outlook is closed. Think about things such as sync software for your
mobile device, fax software, a scheduled task that sends out a message or
something similar.
