How do I stop notifications?

Hi,

I've just re-installed Windows XP and everytime it starts up I get two
notifications from the sys tray.

The first one will tell me that my inactive icons are being hidden and the
second one will try to get met to sign up for a net password.

Is there anyway I can stop receiving them? They really slow things down.

Sonars..

for the hide inactive icons message, right click on a blank space on the
taskbar, then uncheck unhide inactive icons.

I don't know of the top of my head how to get rid of the net passport
message.
