how do i split a cell into 2 under a heading

have created a worksheet with many columns with headings. ie name ticket #
sold
i would like to split the columns under ticket # into 2 so i can have the
beginning number and last number. is there a way to split the cells

an example of your data would have been nice but wild guess...
text to columns.
add a blank column next to your column you want to "split". then on 2003
menu bar.....data>text to colunns>follow the wizard.

No, but you can go the other way. Insert a column to the right of your ticket
# column, then merge the heading cells (cell containing "Ticket #" and new
blank cell). Or, instead of merging (which can cause issues with some
functions/macros, select the two cells, go to formatting, and then
horizontally align across selection.
