how do i sort an excel spreadsheet by column

I would like to sort an Excel spreadsheet by random columns, keeping the data
in the individual rows together, similar to sorting a table in Access. Is
this possible in Excel?
 
Yes. Select the range you want to sort (including all the relevant rows and
columns), then choose Data/ Sort and pick appropriate options.
