How do I size and rotate a text box?

How can I rotate a text box.

I want to create "tear-tabs" at the bottom of the document. Such as those
you see on bullitin boards with their phone number at the bottom. Can this be
done?

You can't rotate text boxes. You can rotate the text in them using the Text
Direction command. But for tear-off tabs, you'd be better advised to use a
borderless table, which also allows you to rotate text.

While you can't rotate text boxes directly, there is another approach that
might be worth trying in Word 2000 and Word 2003. First, insert a text box
with what you want to say in it. Then select the text inside this text box.
Next, click the Word Art button in the WordArt toolbar. Now, click on the
text wrapping icon on the WordArt toolbar and choose something other than "In
line with Text".
Depending on the version of Word you are using this gives you an object with
a small green dot attached by a handle to one side of it in Word 2003. Then
Put your mouse over the green dot and the mouse cursor changes shape. By
holding down the left mouse button and dragging it around you can position
the object at any angle you like.

In Word 2000 you have to click on the rotation icon on the WordArt toolbar
to get the small green dot on the end of the handle, which you can then use
with your mouse to manipulate the position of the mouse.
