How do I share business contact manager without a VPN

I have several remote workers who need to share the Contact Business Manager
Database. Because we are so small we may be able to export and import but I
want to update records not replace. We have a basic server but do not have
an exchange server or VPN. Any better ideas on how to share the data? We
do not have the funds available for an exchange server and would prefer to
stay away from third party software.

Export to BCM files, compress the files (e.g. into .ZIP archives),
email the files, and import them at the other end with the merge
duplicates option.
