How do i set where sent items are saved on an exhange server?

Using program: Outlook 98
Connecting to: MS Exchange Server
Problem: Every time i reply/forward a message sent to a subfolder of the
Inbox the "Sent Item" is saved inside that subfolder, as if ive sent it to
myself. No copy is saved to the Sent Items folder.

If i forward an email in a subfolder and click Options for that email, it is
set to "Save a copy in the .... folder" where .... is the name of the
subfolder. No matter what i change it to, it always resets to be the
subfolder.

Is there anyone who knows how to fix this? I would be very very grateful as
this has only started happening since upgrading from NT4.0 to XP (the NT
machine still saves sent items where it should)

Thanks in advance!

Go to Tools || Options || Email Options || Advanced Email Options || have
you got checked "In folders other than the Inbox, save the replies with
original message" if so see if un-checking helps.

I don't have Outlook 98 in front of me, but I think the checkbox setting you
are after is under Tools > Options > Preferences tab > Email options button.
Look for a box that covers saving copies of messages in the sent items
folder.

There also might be on other checkbox you need to look at under advanced
email options (tools > options > preferences > email options > advanced
email options) and look for a checkbox that covers in folders other than
inbox, save replies with original message.
