How do i set up my desktop computer to work from my laptop

Help I am a new laptop user I have a desktop computer in another room
both access the internet (cable blueyonder broadband) via a linsky
wireless connection this was done to avoid using wires when we moved
the desktop computer into my sons room.How do I get the computers to
talk to each other so that I can print a document written on my laptop
on the printer attached to my desktop computer without using wires

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers, and tell it that they
connect to the Internet through a residential gateway (router). It
will make all the right settings, including sharing the printer. To
run the Wizard, click Start | All Programs | Accessories |
Communications | Network Setup Wizard.
