In Word 2003 when a business card template was used the grey formatting lines
appeared which showed the spacing between cards. How is this done in Word
2007?
A "business card template" is just a properly sized table, and the
"formatting lines" are the table's gridlines.
When the cursor is in the table, select the Layout tab under the Table
Tools tab on the ribbon. At the left end of the ribbon, click the Show
Gridlines button.
