How do I set the default programme for opening attachments to e m.

I recently downloaded Open Office so as to read a mail from abroad. Now it
opens every time I try to open a .doc attachment. I would be grateful if
someone could advise me how I change the default setting. Thanks

In XP: Open a folder containing any .doc file. Right-click the .doc file icon.
Choose "Open With> Choose Program..." Select "Microsoft Office Word" and
check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file." Click OK.
Other versions of Windows are similar.

select a ".doc" file

right mouseclick/"open with"/"select program"

select an installed program (for example "Word") and activate also the flag
for "open always this type of file with the selected program".

Maybe your description is a little bit different to my, because I only have
a german installed Office Version.
