How do i see sum of numbers at bottom of workbook

I cannot see the sum/average etc. of a set of highlighted numbers at the
bottom of the workbook - how do I turn this function on?
 
Right click on the status bar at the bottom of the screen (beneath the sheet
tabs) and select the type of aggregation you want. If it's already set and
you're not getting any totals, it could be that the numbers are stored as
text.
 
Right-click in the status bar and choose your option
