How Do I Search the Entire Solution?

T

TC

I use Visual Studio 2005 v8.0 on two different computers. On one, the
"Find and Replace" dialog gives me the option to look in the "Entire
Solution". On the other computer, the "Find and Replace" dialog does
not have that option.

I would really like to be able to search the entire solution on the
second computer, but I can't figure out how to enable that option.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'd be interested in the answer to this too. It doesn't seem to be in
Tools>Options.

Pamela,

I am using "Quick Find". On one computer, Quick Find gives me the
option to look in "Entire Solution". On the other computer, it does
not. From that, I infer that Quick Find is supposed to support Entire
Solution, but is disabled on the second computer for some reason.

With"Quick Find", I dont have it too. But, you have it in the
combination "Quick Find" - "Replace In Files"

check if the other has "Replace In Files" instead of "Quick Replace"

Pamela,

Yes, on both computers, "Find in Files" and "Replace in Files" support
"Entire Solution". That gives me the functionality I need. Thank you.

However, I still find it odd that two computers running the same
version of Visual Studio would behave differently in "Quick Find" and
"Quick Replace". I can only speculate that some configuration setting
is different on the computers. Does anyone know what that
configuration setting is?
