how do I save outlook e-mails as an e-mail, NOT a word document

I use Outlook 2003. When I want to save an e-mail, I want to save it as an
E-mail in Outlook Message Format, rather than as a Word document or HTML.
Therefore I have disabled using Word as my e-mail Editor (because when this
was enabled, it would only allow me to save it as a Word document). HOWEVER,
with Word editor disabled, when I save messages, it automatically defaults to
save my message as either Rich Text format (which then saves the message in
Word format) or it defaults to HTML format. How can I set up Outlook so that
when I save messages, the default setting is to save the message as "Save As
file type: Outlook Message Format"? This will save me time, and will stop
things being saved in the incorrect format whenever I forget to change the
settings!!!

If you save it from the Inbox folder view (not from an open message) you get
the format options you're looking for

Hi Vince
Thanks for replying, but I'm still having difficulty! I get the option to
save as Outlook Message Format even if I do save it from an open message
view. The issue I have is that I want to set up outlook so that it selects
that format automatically by default every time I save a message rather than
me having to select it each time (for some reason Outlook defaults either to
Rich Text Format or HTML format). I can do it manually, but it's irritating
to have to do it each time - plus sometimes I forget which means I end up
saving it as a Word file instead! Do you know if I can alter the default
settings here? I seem to have looked through every menu within outlook but I
haven't come across it.
Hope you can help, thanks for this, Rhian
