Are you refering to backing up your data in outlook? If that is the case, it is possible. I know in Outlook 2003 as well as 2007 beta, the file is called Outlook.pst. You will need to exit out of Outlook before backing up this file. Hope that helped.

How do I save E-Mails from Outlook onto a Disc? I would like to save my
E-Mails onto a Disc. Is that possible?
yes. You could save your complete "PST" file on the disk, or youu could
export your emails to a backup PST file and you can save this backup PST on
a disk or you create a folder on your harddisk and move the emails into this
folder as "msg" files and now you could save this folder on a disk.
In stead of choosing File|SaveAs (and then choose msg), and browse a
lot to get into the right directory, you better use mailtofile
(www.mailtofile.com/en/).
It offers you the posibility to file more than one e-mail at once, and
the filename (and date) is easy to read. All msgs can be archived onto
a disc and opened directly from there.
