How do I reset the program that I want an attachment opened under?

I received an email that had an attachment. When I attempted to open the
attachment, Outlook did not recognize the program that was associated with
the attachment and asked me to either go to the web and find the program or
pick from a list of programs on my computer. The attachment had a .pub
extension. I picked Word to open it which was an incorrect format. Tried to
reopen using another program but each time Outlook just tried to open in
Word. How can I reset this and what should I open a .pub document with?

Do you have the program that opens PUB files installed (MS Publisher, I
think)? You can change the program that an extension uses in the My Computer
window (View menu > Folder options > File Types tab)

No, I don't have MS Publisher installed. When Outlook directed me to the Web,
Microsoft came up and gave me about 4 options of programs that use .PUB as a
file extension. Didn't know which one to pick and didn't want to download one
and then not have it work. As well, am in a networked environment and the
computer tech (who is away) frowns on us downloading programs to our desktops.
