How do I request a read reciept for email message in outlook 2003

I want to send an e-mail requesting a read reciept. It was so simple in
outlook express. I can't find it in outlook at all. It's not in the toolbars.
I tried the help search, and got nowhere. Microsoft outlook is way too
complex for normal people.
I've been working with computers since hard drives were big as
refrigerators, and memory was magnetic core. It's not like I'm a novice.

Years of experience with mainframes won't help you with a PDA, nor will
someone who worked on Ford Edsels for years necessarily have a lot of
knowlege about a Honda Civic. ;-)

This is really not so complicated - in a new message, click on view |
options, and there's a checkbox to request read receipts and delivery
receipts.

Note that your recipient may or may not send you a read receipt; many people
(and servers, and clients) block these outright. I know I do!

Well, I'm sorry but when I select view, there is no "options choice", the
following appear in the dropdown choices under View;
normal, web layout, print layout, outline, task pane, tool bars, ruler,
documnet map, head and footer, markup, full screen, and zoom. No options
under view.
Can any one else provide an answer?

You are using Word as the message editor. That option changes the location where you would look for this. Click on the Options button on your toolbar.

After furious head scratching, Pilot4Profit asked:

On the actual email that you are composing, on the second menu bar with
(Send, Accounts......... Options), click the Options there and you will see
boxes for requesting a delivery receipt or a read receipt or both.
