how do I replace symbols with text without having to type them in?

I am doing my family history, and where it suppose to say born in there is a
circle. I would like to replace the circle symbol with the actual words. I
was wondering if I could do that without having to type in where I need too.

Copy the symbol from the text, open the Replace dialog, and paste
(using the Ctrl+V shortcut) into the Find What box. Put the words in
the Replace With box and click Replace All.

If the symbol was originally put into the text with the Insert >
Symbol dialog, this might not work. If that happens, see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/FindReplaceSymbols.htm.
