But this does involve reinstalling SP2. With SP1, it was possible to go into
the registry and modify a key so as to tell Windows that IE was not
installed, then go to Updates, which would then reinstall IE. It wasn't
necessary to reinstall the whole of SP1. Is there any reason why this
approach would not work with SP2?
Mainly because it doesn't.. yes, it is a pain, but none of it would be
necessary if it wasn't for the minority who go out of their way to find
flaws and then infect computers via the flaws.. take it up with them..
In the meantime, re-install IE6 according to the procedures outlined in the
MS kb article..
why won't it let me re-install? I get a message that says I already have the
latest version installed...but it is corrupt. What am I doing wrong. I am
trying to follow the directions for kb-318378, but it's not working.
thx
