Is there a procedure in Microsoft Word that will allow me to change the name
of a central character in a novel I am working on?

Ctrl-H (Find-Replace), type the old name in the upper box, type the
new name in the lower box, and click "Replace All."

Use the Find and Replace. CTRL+H will open the Replace dialog box.

In the Find What text box type the name of the character
In the Replace With text box type the characters new name.

Click the Replace or Replace All button

Repeat as necessary for other variations of your characters name.
