How do I remove the indent icon from my page when I type

I saved a "postcard" that I copied and saved afterI sent it at the top of a
letter. It had the indent icon (the backward paragraph sign where it wanted
you to change the verbage); now all my word pages have the "indent icon"
automatically showing up when I load a blank page, and I can't delete
it....Help

Actually, that's not an indent icon. It's a paragraph mark. Every document
created by Word has at least one default paragraph mark. It cannot be
deleted.

What's likely happened is that paragraph marks are now displayed, whereas
previously, they were not. You can toggle their display on/off by clicking
the paragraph mark (the Show/Hide tool) on the Standard toolbar, or by
pressing Ctrl+Shift+*.

Many new Word users find the display of paragraph (and other non-printing
characters) disconcerting. I know I did at first. However, they can be quite
useful in explaining otherwise odd things in your documents. Choose Tools -
Options - View tab, and look at the Formatting Marks section to see other
non-printing characters that Word uses.
