How do I remove plug-ins

My Norton Antivirus program is having an issue. Their page says that removing third party plug-ins from IE6 might fix the problem. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
 
To disable all the third-party plugins:

1. Click Start, Run, type Control Inetcpl.cpl.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

To disable the plugins selectively [BHO]
