How Do I Remove hiberfil.sys?

On my system hiberfil.sys is over one gigabyte. I don't understand
why I have such a file at all. As I understand it, it's used to dump
memory if the computer goes into hibernation. In Power Options I have
hibernate set to "Never."

You need to dig in further (hybernate tab) and disable hibernation.

Posted 'as is'. If there are any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, they
were a direct result of my fingers and brain not being synchronized or my
lack of caffeine.

Go to Power Options - Hibernate page, uncheck 'Enable Hibernation'. and
Apply. The file will then go. It is at present there so you can choose
Hibernation when shutting down manually: the setting you made only says
never do it automatically
