How do I remove an inactive shortcut from the navigation pane?

I deleted an IMAP folder for which I had a shortcut on the navigation pane,
and now I have found no way to delete the inactive shortcut. Does anyone
know how to delete a non-working shortcut?

Right click "Remove from Favorite Folder" or "Delete <Folder Name>"
depending on what you're referring at.

That would work, if right-clicking gave me a menu. But because there is no
target for the shortcut, the latter is "dead": I get no response whatsoever
from either a left- or right-click.

What link are we talking about here? Favorite Folders link or a folderset?

The kind that you create using the "Add New Shortcut" link in the lower pane
of Shortcuts. It's a shortcut to a folder in our IMAP mail server. Anyway,
I solved the problem this way: I used "Add New Group" to create a
"Shortcuts2" group. Then I moved all the shortcuts in the original Shortcuts
group to the new group, except for the dead shortcut. Then I deleted the old
"Shortcuts" group (which by then contained only the dead shortcut). Finally,
I renamed "Shortcuts2" to "Shortcuts". Voila!
