How do I recover a file that was manually saved over?

I was working on a document in Word 2003 and I accidentally saved over a
previous version (using "save as...") that I didn't want to lose. How can I
recover my previous work?

Helo-

If the doc has been closed, there isn't much (if anything) you can do. Even
Automatic Backup won't help, assuming it was even active at the time. Nor can
you Undo a Save As.

Thanks for your reply CyberTaz...it confirms the results of my own searching
of Word.

Are there utility programs "out there" that can restore such information?

No utility programs that I know of. There probably are however services
that charge an "Arm and a Leg" so it would need to be really worth while.
