How do I protect hidden rows from being unhidden?

I want to send out a forcast document to various managers so that they can
enter their forcast and send it back to me. However I need to hide the rates
row and the totals column and ensure they can not unhide the column.

Hi

You could hide the rows and then protect the sheet. However, if a user types
a hidden cell into the address box, the information will display in the
formula bar. To avoid this, you'll have to format the row as Hidden
(Format/Cells/Protection) and then hide the row and then protect the sheet.

Excel security is not too robust.

Protection passwords can be broken by a resourceful manager.

The rule is.....if you don't want snoops to see sensitive information, don't
include it in the file.

Devise some other method of receiving the forecasts and you enter them into
the sensitive workbook.

But If I protect the wole worksheet, they will not be able to enter their
forcasts into the non-hidden fields.

I don't recommend this method...see my other post........but you can unlock
specific cells for the managers to enter forecasts before you protect the
sheet.

pick some cells for them to access then Format>Cells>Protection and uncheck
"locked"

Now Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet.
