I copied CUSTOM.DIC, MSO1033.acl and Normal.dot to a floppy to provide a
backup for Word. When I tried to copy them to thier respective locations on
another PC to test the backup only CUSTOM.DIC would copy. The .acl and .dot
files produced an error about being unable to read from the specific device.
Both PC were running Word 2000.

I suspect it was just a defective floppy disk. All three are ordinary
files that should be copyable by the usual method.

I tried this with mutlple diskette and 2 different source computers. The
copy "to" the diskette never gave any errors. Is chance that there is some
type of protection that the one company is using on their PC that has
inadvertently affected the copy function of these files?
Thanks

I suppose anything is possible, but it seems to me *very* improbable.

Try making a zip file on the first computer's hard drive to contain
the three files, transferring that to the second computer, and
unzipping it there.

Thanks the zip file method worked.
